Ingredients

Beef Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Assembly

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 triangles)
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded (plus extra for topping if desired)
  • 1 egg, beaten (optional, for glossy tops)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Cook Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until fully cooked. Drain off excess grease to avoid soggy rolls.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 30 seconds to combine flavors, then remove from heat.
  4. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the score lines.
  5. Fill and Assemble Rolls: Spoon a portion of the beef filling onto the wide end of each triangle, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef. Roll each triangle starting from the wide end toward the point, tucking the filling inside as you go.
  6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. For a shiny, golden finish, brush the tops lightly with beaten egg if using.
  7. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they turn a deep golden brown and are cooked through.
  8. Add Extra Cheese Topping: During the last 2 minutes of baking, sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese on top of the rolls to allow it to melt wonderfully.
  9. Serve Warm: Remove from oven and serve immediately while warm and gooey.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding chopped jalapeños or green chilies to the beef filling.
  • If you don't have crescent roll dough, puff pastry sheets can be a good substitute.
  • Brushing with egg is optional but gives the rolls a beautiful golden gloss.
  • Leftover rolls can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • This recipe can be doubled easily for larger gatherings.
