Hi, I'm Zara!
Welcome to Zara Cooking, where every recipe tells a story and every meal is a chance to create something beautiful.
Where It All Began
I remember the first time I tried cooking on my own. I was seven, standing on a stool in the kitchen, filling a pot with water and adding vegetables, convinced I was about to make the best soup ever. But within minutes, water overflowed onto the stove, steam filled the room, and suddenly everything felt out of control.
Instead of getting frustrated, I laughed at myself and realized that cooking isn't about perfection—it's about trying and enjoying what you do. From that moment on, the kitchen became my own space to explore, experiment with flavors, learn from mistakes, and create without fear.

The Real Education
Years later, I found myself in culinary school, learning all the "proper" techniques. How to hold a knife. How to make the perfect béchamel. How to plate like a Michelin-star chef. It was incredible, but something felt off. The food looked beautiful, but it didn't feel like home.
One evening after a particularly intense practical exam, I called my grandmother. "The chef said my sauce was technically perfect but lacked soul," I told her, exhausted.
She laughed. "Soul doesn't come from technique, habibti. It comes from who you're cooking for and why."
That changed everything.
Why Zara Cooking Exists
After finishing school, I worked in a few restaurant kitchens. Fast-paced, high-pressure, beautiful food flying out the door every night. But something was missing. I missed the warmth of cooking for people I knew. I missed seeing faces light up at the table. I missed the conversations that happened over a long, slow meal.
So I started cooking for friends. Small dinner parties at first, then bigger gatherings. I'd test new recipes, blend flavors from my grandmother's Middle Eastern cooking with techniques I'd learned in school, and watch people relax into their chairs, finally putting down their phones and just being present.
That's when Zara Cooking was born. A place to share recipes that don't just feed you, they bring you together.
more about me....
What You'll Find Here
- Real recipes for real life. I'm not interested in recipes that require three days and seventeen specialty ingredients. I want food that's delicious, achievable, and worth the effort.
- Stories behind every dish. Every recipe I share has a reason for being here, whether it's a childhood memory, a late-night experiment that actually worked, or something I learned from someone special.
- Techniques that matter. I'll teach you the skills that actually make a difference: how to season properly, when something is really done, and how to trust your instincts in the kitchen.
- A space for beginners and pros alike. Whether you've never chopped an onion or you could dice one blindfolded, there's something here for you.
What I Believe
Cooking is one of the most human things we do. It's how we show love, celebrate, comfort, and connect. The best meals aren't always the fanciest, they're the ones where everyone feels welcome, the conversation flows easily, and nobody wants to leave the table.
I believe in using good ingredients without going broke. In making mistakes and learning from them. In the magic of a well-set table and the power of sharing food with people you care about.
I also believe that anyone can cook. It's not about natural talent or expensive equipment. It's about curiosity, patience, and being willing to try.
Beyond the Kitchen
When I'm not cooking, you'll find me hunting for the best spices at the local market, testing new coffee blends (I have a slight obsession), or curled up with a cookbook like it's a novel. I live for farmer's markets, spontaneous dinner parties, and that moment when someone takes a bite and closes their eyes because it's just that good.
Let's Cook Together
Zara Cooking isn't just my space, it's ours. A place where you can ask questions, share your wins (and your kitchen disasters), and find recipes that actually make it into your regular rotation.
So whether you're cooking to impress, cooking to unwind, or cooking because there's a random assortment of ingredients in your fridge and you need to figure something out, I'm here for it. Let's make something delicious.
