Ingredients

Caprese Skewers

  • 20 cherry tomatoes, or grape tomatoes, rinsed and patted dry
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, rinsed and pat dry
  • 20 mozzarella pearls, or diced fresh mozzarella, patted dry

Dressing & Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Freshly ground black pepper, for sprinkling
  • Sea salt or kosher salt, preferably coarse, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Assemble Skewers: Skewer 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 mozzarella pearls, and 2 basil leaves onto each small skewer, folding larger basil leaves if necessary to fit.
  2. Arrange Skewers: Lay the assembled skewers in a single layer on a clean platter. Cover and refrigerate for up to 8 hours if preparing ahead.
  3. Add Dressing and Season: Just before serving, drizzle the skewers evenly with balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil.
  4. Season to Taste: Sprinkle the skewers with sea salt or kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance flavors.
  5. Serve: Present the skewers immediately to maintain freshness and vibrant appearance.

Notes

  • Pat dry the tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil to prevent moisture that causes glaze sliding and basil wilting.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble skewers up to 8 hours in advance without dressing or seasoning. Refrigerate covered and add dressing just before serving.
  • Storage: Store leftover skewers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. Seasoned skewers should be consumed quickly to avoid softening and discoloration.
